► AT 5:00PM: Matthew Rankin’s Master Class
Director Matthew
Rankin will hold a master class at the Cinémathèque québécoise at 5:00PM.
Since attending L’inis in 2004, Rankin has developed a unique style beloved by
festival audiences around the world, most recently seen in National Competition
pick THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. Don’t miss a chance to hear from this
singular Canadian filmmaker in his own words.

7:00PM: World premiere of LES FLEURS OUBLIÉES by André Forcier
Join us
for the world premiere of LES FLEURS OUBLIÉES in the Imperial Cinema at
7:00PM. André Forcier’s newest work is a delightful dive into his
signature fantasy-realism. It follows Albert, a beekeeper and mead brewer who
spends his days working from a Montreal rooftop. But Albert’s life is shaken up
when he is joined by Brother Marie-Victorin… who descends from Heaven to help
him. Forcier, the cast and crew of the film will be present.

9:00PM: Tribute to André Forcier
Following
the world premiere of his film LES FLEURS OUBLIÉES, the Festival is
thrilled to be honouring director André Forcier for his storied
filmmaking career. Head to the Agora at 9:00PM for an evening that reflects the
atmosphere of his newest work, with everything from mead tasting to a musical
performance from Robert Fusil et les chiens fous. A celebration not to be
missed!

OF THE DAY
In
addition to those listed above, the Festival will welcome a number of guests on
Wednesday, October 16th. At 5:15PM in the Cinémathèque québécoise (Salle
Fernand-Seguin), join director Federico Hidalgo for a Q&A following a
screening of his film, THE GREAT TRAVELLER. Then, at 6:45PM, after a
projection of 1973 dystopian thriller SOYLENT GREEN, there will be a
discussion with urban nutritionist Bernard Lavallée and vegan health expert
Caroline Huard on the future of food, veganism and the consequences of drawing
on natural resources. At 7:00PM, director Annabelle Attanasio will hold a
Q&A in the Cinéplex Odéon Quartier Latin (Salle 10) after a projection of
her film, MICKEY AND THE BEAR. Finally, at 8:45PM, the cast and crew of CRANKS
will hold a Q&A following a screening of their film at Cinéma du Parc
(Salle 3).
About the 48th edition of the
Festival du Nouveau Cinéma
The 48th edition of the
Festival du Nouveau Cinéma will take place from the 9th to the 20th
of October in the following locations: the Cinéma Moderne, the Cinéma du Musée,
the Cinéma du Parc, the Imperial Cinema (official point of sale for the
Festival), the Cinémathèque québécoise, the Cineplex Odéon du Quartier Latin,
La Grand-Place du complexe Desjardins, l’Inis, the Théâtre Maisonneuve of Place
des Arts, as well as the Headquarters, located at the Agora Hydro-Québec in the
Coeur des sciences of UQÀM and in the Chaufferie. Ticket sales are now open on
the Festival website www.nouveaucinema.ca.
