Ethically Produced Collection Pays Homage to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jonathan Van Ness, Lewis Capaldi, Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Megan Rapinoe, Phoebe-Waller Bridge and White Claw; Proceeds Will Benefit Charities
London-based social enterprise, notjust, have released their debut
North American apparel collection. Not just an apparel company, this
social enterprise, has been widely known for their popular holiday sweater line
and directing their capital for good. In line with their successful
UK collection which debuted in 2017, notjust will contribute proceeds of the
sale of every sweater to a charity. Customers will be able to choose from a
list of charities they wish to donate 10% of their purchase to when buying
their sweater.
The North American debut collection has been carefully curated with the most
prolific boldface names from celebrities, sports figures, recording artists and
to those that have become pop culture icons in 2019. The holiday campaign,
which embraces diversity, celebrates inclusivity and offers memorable fashion
statements, include:
Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, aka AOC, the Bronx-based
Congresswoman who has taken the political world by storm; the
effervescent Jonathan Van Ness, who has rejected
traditional gender pronouns preaching the power of positivity, choice and
self-identification; with a historic World Cup Win and a commanding voice on
matters from equal pay to Donald Trump, soccer star Megan
Rapinoe; hip-hop sensation Lizzo, who has
been 100% dat B*tch this year – loud, proud, and oozing the type of juice that
instills confidence in those that have previously felt marginalized, mocked or
misrepresented; Lewis Capaldi, America’s sweetheart with
his cracking sense of humour, a ton of humility and that shockingly soulful
voice to boot; Lil Nas X– a young, black, gay country-rap
star that appeared from nowhere to break the record for consecutive weeks at
number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Also featured is Phoebe
Waller-Bridge, the award winning screen-writer and actor who has
charmed the nation with her relatable, honest, flawed and lovable protagonist
Fleabag. White Claw, the nation’s adored seltzer
and status symbol like no other, rounds out the collection – you can celebrate
the drink of the summer all through the winter with this playful sweater.
“Crossing the pond to celebrate the best of North America has to offer
has always been a goal of ours. From where we were sitting, so much positivity
was coming from individuals all over the region – it wasn’t easy settling
on a handful of icons to build into our new collection. Our designs pay homage
to the brave, bold and beautiful and we hope to inspire some laughs along the
way,” said Mike Harding, Founder of notjust.“We want to empower our
customers to give back to society by donating funds from their purchase to a
charity of their choice, so as well as looking great at their Christmas party
they know they’ve also had a positive effect on a cause close to their heart.”
All sweaters are produced in ethical-working conditions to tackle sweatshop
labor.Producing one of these premium quality knits is
time-consuming, highly specialized and technically intricate work. Using the
latest hi-tech knitting machines, it takes 45 minutes to weave the front and
back sections, and the sleeves are cut by hand and the collar attached by
carefully feeding each sweater into a separate machine. Each stage of the
process is carried out by expert craftspeople in fair working conditions,
resulting in sweaters built to last and to be worn again year-after-year.
