“Rysanov is a
prince among viola players.”

Bourgie Hall at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts
Following an acclaimed initial
collaboration in the spring of 2018, Ukrainian-born conductor and violist Maxim
Rysanov is back with I Musici. This star on the international classical scene
invites us to a world that features Britten, romanticism and creation.
Alternating between the baton and the viola, as part of the evening Rysanov
will guide the orchestra in Schubert’s feverish Fifth Symphony.
“Let’s hope Maxim Rysanov comes back soon and that he gets a
major concert” was the feeling of Le Devoir’s Christophe Huss the morning after
Rysanov’s triumphant concert in May 2018. “He’s a musical gem that I Musici
should cultivate and look after.”
Both a virtuoso on the viola and a charismatic conductor,
Maxim Rysanov has distinguished himself with the world’s finest orchestras and
received a nomination at the Grammy Awards. He is also the recipient of several
other distinctions, including Gramophone magazine’s Young Artist of the Year,
and was selected as a BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artist.
Following the
concert, the audience is invited to enjoy a mix-and-mingle with the artists in
the Bourgie Hall lobby.
