Get a first look at their cover of
the classic Hawaiian Christmas song, “Mele Kalikimaka!”
Last Friday, December 13th, we released a cover of the classic Hawaiian Christmas song, Mele Kalikimaka. The song was written in 1949 by Robert Alex Anderson. Mele Kalikimaka, is a Polynesian phrase meaning, “Merry Christmas”. One of the earliest recordings of this song was by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters in 1950, and it has been covered many times, including a recording by the Beach Boys. The song has been a favorite of ours since we were young and we have covered it around the holidays since the beginning of the band.
We would like to thank all those who helped us with the release. The song was recorded and mixed by Andy Bova at Simple Sound Studios in Oceanport, NJ. Released via Cleopatra Records.
With the help of our fans, we also decided to put together a Spotify playlist of the best indie Holiday songs. If you’re tired of the classic Christmas tunes, check out our “Not Your Father’s Christmas Playlist” here. Sure to make your holiday party the talk of the town! Please help us spread the Christmas cheer by adding Mele Kalikimaka to your own holiday playlist or following and sharing our naught list!
Our version of the song is different from all of the rest. Basically, its a Dentist song with sleigh bells and a glockenspiel. We hope it brings you holiday cheer!
