Montreal was awarded the hosting of the next ISEA at ISEA2019 held in Gwangju, South Korea in June 2019. The handover of the symbol of this year theme ‘Lux Aeterna’ took place during the closing ceremony, where Ms Soh Yeong Roh, Director of Art Centre Nabi in Seoul, handed over the eternal light to the 2020 host Mr. Mehdi Benboubakeur, Executive Director of Montreal Digital Spring.
“ISEA2020 will be innovative and visionary”, said Mehdi Benboubakeur. “ISEA returns to Montreal after 25 years. Back in 1995 it introduced Montreal as a Digital Arts Centre and gave a spotlight to emerging local talent. Montreal will benefit this time round from ISEA2020, and will build a strong momentum for the future.”
