Starting on February 29, the Festival Art
Souterrain, in collaboration with Échappe-toi, invites its visitors to play in giant escape game. Taking place in over 5 km of the Montreal underground
network, discover in a fun and unusual way the works of the Festival Art Souterrain 12th edition, held from February 29 to March 22,
2020. Art Souterrain and Échappe-toi propose to dive into the
greatest immersive escape game
to date, entitled
“Journey to the Center of the Earth: The Forgotten City” , an in situ
experience specially designed for the Art Souterrain Festival echoing this year’s theme, RESET.

The participants will have to answer
puzzles, meet different characters and discover clues allowing them to escape
with the treasure of the forgotten city. 80 professional actors and ambassadors
will be brought together at the heart of the Art Souterrain pathway to bring to
life this original escape game.

“This hunt for puzzles is a fun and
accessible way to create an unusual link between the viewer and the work of
art. This will certainly open up the world of contemporary art to an audience
less inclined to attend visual arts exhibitions” , explains Frédéric Loury,
general director of Art Souterrain. (loosely translated)

“Playing
in the underground city of Montreal and participating in the development of the
artistic and architectural heritage is an opportunity that we could not miss
and which has been corresponding to our mandate for over
5 years” explains Emmanuel de Gouvello, president and founder of Échappe-toi –
Immersive Adventure. (loosely translated)

Tickets are now on sale at the unique
price of $ 25 plus tax, places are limited. Experience offered on February 29,
March 1, 6, 7 and 8, 2020. Duration 1 hour.

ABOUT ART SOUTERRAIN

Art Souterrain is a non-profit
organization founded in 2009 with the mandate to make contemporary art
accessible to the general public. With a desire to demystifying works and
artistic approaches, the organization sets up several annual projects that seek
to educate the eye and create a link between the work and its audience.

To achieve its goals, Art Souterrain relies on a strong model which consists in removing art from traditional exhibition places to bring it to meet individuals. By exhibiting in unconventional places, the organization wants to surprise everyone in their daily lives and thus provoke a new kind of interaction.

The 12th edition of the Festival Art Souterrain will take
place from February 29 to March 22, 2020.
