Saturday, April 25 at 2:30 p.m.: Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fourth, Fifth and Eighth Symphonies at the Paris Philharmonic by the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, conducted by Yannick Nézet-Séguin
In recent years, the Quebec conductor has multiplied the complete symphonies with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. The third part (out of four) of the complete Beethoven symphonies by the charismatic Yannick Nézet-Séguin will take place on Saturday, April 25 at the Philharmonie de Paris. While the Fourth testifies to its growing ambition in orchestral matters, the economics of ideas and the subtle play of the pulsation characterize the Eighth, which mixes charm and fire, humour and extravagance. It is finally his intimate thought that the composer develops in the Fifth. Secret pains, concentrated angers, outbursts of enthusiasm, everything is announced from the famous initial motif where the composer seems to draw his fist, as if by a gesture of defiance towards fate. Beethoven takes us into a world of tension and pressure, which continues its path with a rigor sweeping everything in its path.

Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m.: CInquième and Seventh Symphonies at the Palace of Versailles
by Les Siècles, under the direction of François-Xavier Roth
It is at the Royal Opera House in Versailles, located within the Palace of Versailles, that Les Siècles will perform two of Beethoven’s most significant symphonies live. Fully played on period instruments, the famous Fifth Symphony, with its famous theme whose combative rhythmic cell was used by the BBC during the war to incite resistance against Nazism, as well as the Seventh symphony, described as “the apotheosis of dance” by Richard Wagner, will be performed by Les Siècles under the direction of François-Xavier Roth.
Friday, March 20 at 2 p.m.: Fidelio at Theater an der Wien
par Manfred Honeck et le Wiener Symphoniker et mis en scene par Christoph Waltz
Beethoven’s unique opera Fidelio will be performed by Nicole Chevalier (Leonore), Eric Cutler (Florestan) and the Wiener Symphoniker under Manfred Honeck at the theater an der Wien with an authentic and intimate atmosphere. Played for the first time in 1805 in these places, the opera, drawn from a real fact, takes place in a Spanish prison where Leonore, disguised as a man, is willing to risk his life to free her husband Florestan. Christoph Waltz, the Austro-German actor we have seen in films by Quentin Tarantino or Tim Burton, is working on the staging of this work.
