The Woodstock Film Festival is offering a special screening of iconic Hungarian director István Szabó’s 1981 Academy Award-winning masterpiece MEPHISTO, courtesy of Kino Lorber. The film is now available to stream as part of the Kino Marquee initiative, which supports independent theaters and art houses currently closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic by offering online screenings.
MEPHISTO follows an impassioned but impoverished actor (Klaus Maria Brandauer) who chooses to remain in Germany after the rise of the Nazi regime in order to gain the fame and attention he has long chased after. Thanks to restoration efforts by the Hungarian Film Fund, you can now enjoy MEPHISTO in stunning 4k resolution. Watch the trailer above for a sneak peek.
After buying a ticket, the film will be available to stream for a five-day period with 50% of your purchase going towards supporting the Woodstock Film Festival. Click the button below to watch.
