FOR FOOD INDEPENDENCE IN QUEBEC
Because it’s time to act!
The Ciné Vert festival, presented by SUCO and Funambules Media, invites you to watch Marc Séguin’s film La Ferme et son État for free between May 11 and 14 and participate in a panel discussion on food independence in Quebec hosted by journalist Catherine Mercier with the director on May 14 at 7 p.m. live on Facebook.
In the current pandemic, many voices have raised concerns about Quebec’s food security, criticizing a heavy reliance on food and labour imports to ensure the supply of the population. With the possibility of food shortages and rising prices resulting from tighter borders and the rise of protectionist logic, many have floated the idea of strengthening Quebec’s food independence. After following the public debate around agriculture carefully, we invite you to watch the film La Ferme et son état by director Marc Séguin and to reflect with him and that of seasoned panelists to engage in the discussion on such crucial issues as food and agriculture.

for A FOOD INDEPENDENCE IN QUEBEC
Facebook event
What exactly is food independence? And how can we attain it? What does this mean for Quebec producers and consumers? And what obstacles does the current agricultural system pose in the achievement of such a goal? What role could small local producers play and how can they be properly equipped? How can citizens contribute to it? What other solutions could we collectively implement to better feed Quebec?
