Following the recent announcements concerning the reopening of cinemas in Quebec, Cinéma Moderne is considering the security methods to put in place to welcome the public back to its Mile-End screening room. Until films are projected on the big screen again, Cinéma Moderne announces new titles coming this summer to its online platform.
From June 26, movie buffs will be able to discover, exclusively in Quebec, House of Hummingbird, a South Korean drama written and directed by Bora Kim, the grand prize winner of the international jury Generation 14plus award at the 2019 Berlin International Film Festival. Also on the program, Language is a Love Story, a feature documentary by Andrés Livov, which brings us to Madame Loiseau’s class where new students learn to familiarize themselves with the culture of their host country.
Two features by great European filmmakers will also be presented on the Cinéma Moderne website: Caro Diario by Nanni Moretti (from June 26), and Les nuits de la pleine lune by Eric Rohmer (from July 3). In July, make way for documentaries with the presentation of the films In My Blood It Runs by Maya Newell, Sovereign Soil by David Curtis (from July 10), Regarding Gravity by Matthieu Brouillard (from July 17), and Helmut Newton: The Bad and the Beautiful by Gero von Boehm (from July 24).

These films will be added to the June program already announced: L.A. Tea Time by Sophie Bédard Marcotte, Manoir by Pier-Luc Latulippe and Martin Fournier, It Must Be Heavenby Elia Suleiman, and Retour du monde, a program of six short films distributed by Travelling. Until June 20, the Suoni Per Il Popolo festival, which celebrates its 20th anniversary, takes over the Cinéma Moderne’s online platform with a selection of Quebec, Canadian and international films carefully selected by guest programmer Frédéric Savard.
