As part of Montreal Digital Week, the globally-renowned ISEA returns to Montreal after 25 years. In 1995 ISEA introduced Montreal as a Digital Arts Centre and gave a spotlight to emerging local talent. Now, as one of the world’s foremost digital hubs, Montreal welcomes ISEA2020.

Founded in the Netherlands in 1990, ISEA is one of the most important art and technology events in the world. ISEA2020, MTL connect’s Creativity Pavilion, will be entirely dedicated to examining the resurgence of sentience with the theme, Why Sentience?

The academic program – including keynotes, paper presentations, posters, institutional presentations, artist talks and workshops – will be presented entirely via an online platform.

The artistic program presents a selection of 80 works by 105 local and international artists including installations, videos, virtual reality works, online pieces and performances and interventions in public space. Each work will be presented both on ISEA2020’s online platform and on a dedicated website.
