At the beginning of its last weekend, the Festival du Nouveau Cinema invites the public to enjoy one last time the films of its 49th edition. Ticket sales close on Saturday, October 31 at 11:59 p.m. while online movie viewing continues on its platform until Sunday, November 1 at 11:59 p.m. After this successful online edition, despite the constraints of the current global pandemic, the FNC is pleased to announce that the Festival has been chosen by the European organization Eurimages to present the Audentia Prize next year.

“We are very pleased that the 40 members of Eurimages have selected the Montreal Festival du Nouveau Cinema to present this prestigious award in 2021, which recognizes and rewards the importance of women’s place in our industry. It is a great honour for us, for Montreal, for Quebec and for Canada, but also a great recognition of the work we were doing towards parity and inclusion. » – Nicolas Girard Deltruc, FNC Director General

In favour of parity and gender equality in the film industry, this award is presented once a year at an international festival specially chosen for the occasion. The award has been presented in the past at prestigious festivals such as TIFF or Locarno. Recognized internationally, this award will reward the work of a director selected in 2021 with a grant of 30,000 euros. After the addition of the FIPRESCI International Critics’ Award to its awards last year and the qualification for the Oscar race for the short film winner of the Silver Wolf at the FNC, this news strengthens the Festival’s influence on the international circuit.

The 50th edition of the Festival du Nouveau Cinema, the dean of Canadian film festivals, will run from October 6 to 17, 2021.
