The 26th edition of CINEMANIA begins its final week of online screenings, after starting on November 4. Festival-goers will still be able to see many titles presented in preview and representative of the Francophonie and its plurality until November 22. In addition, cinemaNIA is offering a selection of 34 short films, available at all times and until the end of the Festival on its online platform, this year and for the first time.

Short films at CINEMANIA

This year, for the first time, CINEMANIA is offering a selection of 34 short films, 26 of which are in competition, available at all times on its viewing platform until November 22. Among the titles to discover are the presence of IMELDA 3: SIMONE by Martin Villeneuve with Ginette Reno but also, SMOOTHIE by Pierre-Luc Funk which marks the actor’s debut behind the camera. It should be noted that several titles are from the 2020 edition of the REGARD Festival. The Saguenean festival, cancelled in March due to the health crisis, accompanied CINEMANIA in its entry into the world of the court. Several titles are also derived from the selection of the event. In addition, always with the aim of making the French-speaking world shine, CINEMANIA and the Saint-Jean-de-Lu International Film FestivalZ france are embarking on a new partnership that symbolizes the active and dynamic relations between France andQuebec. Thus, among the 34 short-films from the selection of CINEMANIA, 8 of them are from the selection of Saint-Jean-De-Luz.

Many French-language titles to discover for this past week

During this last week, the public will be able to see many titles from all over the French-speaking world: from France to Quebec to Algeria. Remember that all the titles of the selection are presented twice, at the beginning and end of the Festival in order to allow as many people as possible to enjoy the programming in its entirety. This week, spectators will be able to discover Dinby Neegan Trudel. Starring Sophie Desmarais, Kelly Dépeault and Rosalie Pépin, the film looks back at the tumultuous journey of teenage girls placed in group homes by the DPJ. Also on the programme is JOSEP de Aurel,an animated film that receives the Cannes 2020 label, which recounts the traumas experienced by Spanish refugees fleeing the Franco regime in 1939, locked up in concentration camps in the South of France. It should also be noted thatThe drama TWO by Filippo Meneghetti with Léa Drucker. Finally, CÉSAR PREMIÈRE, a documentary by Patrick Fabre dedicated to the 7th art in which the voice of the rise of the steps of the Cannes Film Festival looks back on one of the most prestigious awards of French cinema.

A unique partnership with CRAVE

In addition, at the end of this 26th edition on 22 November and as part of its partnership with Bell, CINEMANIA will present a dedicated collection of films on the CRAVE platform entitled Festival CINEMANIA . Available until December 6 for all subscribers of the platform, the collection will function as an extension of the festival with several films this year including VACARME by Neegan Trudel, FLASHWOOD by Jean-Carl Boucher but also the films MON CHIEN STUPIDE by Yvan Attal and L’ETAT SAUVAGE directed by David Perrault.
