RESTORED 4K VERSION

David Cronenberg’s feature film CRASH 4K will be available on video-on-demand from November 24. A restored version to rediscover this cult work that caused a lot of ink and won the Special Jury Prize at Cannes in 1996.

At the wheel of his car, James Ballard (James Spader) collides with the car of a couple whose husband is killed instantly. The wife, Helen Remington (Holly Hunter), later saw James again and introduced him to a man named Vaughan (Elias Koteas). Fascinated by car accidents and physical injuries, he and his friends recreate famous accidents, such as the one in which James Dean died. James, his wife Catherine (Deborah Kara Unger) and Helen become captivated by these dangerous games that multiply their erotic impulses.

“The film was presented at the Cannes Film Festival in 1996 and caused a great scandal that really surprised me because the novel existed for a long time, it was known. More than 20 years later, I really didn’t think a film based on this novel would be so disturbing. says David Cronenberg.

“Producing CRASH was one of the highlights of my career. It was an honour to support David Cronenberg’s fearless and bold vision. We all embarked on this adventure without a safety net. It’s a film that couldn’t be made today. says producer Robert Lantos.

Starring James Spader, Holly Hunter, Rosanna Arquette and Deborah Kara Unger, this film is an adaptation of James G. Ballard’s novel of the same name, which caused a scandal in 1973 with its raw and violent pornography. CRASH is a film with murky eroticism that transforms crumpled sheets into powerful aphrodisiacs.
