Being a working musician for over four decades is quite an accomplishment for anyone. When you are a woman working within rock music it is doubly so.
Kathy Valentine was born in 1959 in Austin, Texas and began playing guitar in high school. After dropping out she began to turn her passion for music into a career. In 1980, she was asked by all-girl group the Go-Go’s to play the bass, which she had never played before. As they say, the rest is history.
This spring, published by University of Texas Press, Valentine’s memoir, All I Ever Wanted: A Rock ‘n’ Roll Memoir, was released. It got good reviews and reached the number one position on Amazon’s Rock Biography chart. You can purchase the book here: https://utpress.utexas.edu/books/valentine-all-i-ever-wanted
