SOFI TUKKER have shared a collaboration with HOLZBLÄSER, “Caröl Von Holz,” to celebrate the holidays. HOLZBLÄSER aka Holz initially emerged as a mysterious member of the Freak Fam, the devoted community that has emerged around SOFI TUKKER’s daily DJ set livestreams. HOLZBLÄSER began to send the group edits he made of their songs featuring his instantly memorable voice which they began playing in their sets and grew into a collaboration.
SOFI TUKKER share about the collaboration: “Never did we ever think we would do a Christmas song, let alone a Christmas song with a mysterious stranger over email. But when in 2020!”
Pollstar has released their chart of the msot livestreamed musical acts of 2020 and SOFI TUKKER are the 5th most livestreamed artist of 2020 with over 5.2 million views. SOFI TUKKER appeared on the cover of Pollstar this fall to discuss how their decision to livestream every day of quarantine developed into a dedicated community of daily viewers and a more direct connection between them and their listeners.
Last week the group released the Lee Foss remix of their hedonistic collaboration with Icona Pop, “Spa.” The DJ, producer, and co-founder of the celebrated house music label Hot Creations, puts a Chicago touch on “Spa” with a deep synth bass, piano stabs, and flourishes of Latin percussion. The remix is club and spa ready with weightless dreamy melodies and a commanding rhythm.
The playfully indulgent anthem of self-love and self-care also has an equally flirtatious spa treatment themed video co-starring actor Jordan Firstman and transgressive multi-hyphenate Mia Khalifa.
Earlier this month, SOFI TUKKER shared their remix of Lady Gaga’s hit single “911” from her album Chromatica. The duo’s adventurous take heightens the urgency of the original with a frenetic and ecstatic pace. This is the second time their work meets as SOFI TUKKER’s single “Matadora” was featured in Lady Gaga’s Netflix documentary Five Foot Two previously.
