LE CARTEL COLLABORATES WITH THE TATTOO ARTIST EPITHUMIA ROSE AND CREATES A COLLECTION IN AID OF THE OLD BREWERY MISSION

After a first collaboration in 2016 with Mariana Mazza for the International Women’s Rights Day, Le Cartel renews its involvement with the Mission Old Brewery with the launch of a capsule collection entitled Midnight Mistress. In light of recent events affecting the homeless people, Le Cartel has chosen to donate 100% of the profits from this exclusive collection to Women Services of the Old Brewery Mission, whose mission is to help homeless women in Montreal. Consisting of a bomber jacket (200$), a short-sleeved t-shirt (40$) and a pair of socks (20$), this capsule collection is the result of a new collaboration between the brand and Montreal tattoo artist Epithumia Rose.

The visual created by the artist and adapted on clothing by Le Cartel reminds us of a tarot card, in particular the star on which a naked woman kneeling near a lake spreads Water on Earth. This design takes us into the mystical universe of a witch, a nymph, or a goddess, depending on the interpretation, dressed in the simple veil of night as if trying to appropriate it. “In connection with the creation of this universe, the title Midnight Mistress thus appeared very appropriate to me. It wants to be “empowering” because the night represents an exhilarating moment, a moment to let out one’s emotions, to free oneself from one’s job, to change one’s identity, and to escape (while sleeping). ” Epithumia Rose

In a brand new video produced and directed by Le Cartel, the collective gives the floor to eight Montreal personalities by questioning them on their relationship to the night, to femininity, to people and women in a situation of homelessness in Montreal. Judith Lussier, Stéphanie Germain (Hoodstock), musician Anachnid and Gabriella Garbeau (alias Gabriella Kinté, owner of Librairie Racines) lent their voices to the project by transmitting a strong message on the subject.

After a difficult year in 2020, during which we received a lot of support from our community, we felt important to give back to a cause that is dear to us. Naturally we decided that the profits from this textile collaboration with Épithumia Rose, celebrating women and femininity in the broadest sense of the word, would be donated to the Women’s Services at the Old Brewery Mission.”  Marie Delannoy, Le Cartel

The ultimate goal of our Women’s Services is to ensure that every woman who walks through our doors is permanently housed. Our teams welcome and accompany each woman on her journey, in a safe and inclusive environment. Fundraising initiatives such as Le Cartel’s allow us to achieve this goal. We could not accomplish our work without the generous support of corporate and community donors. “ James Hughes, President and CEO Old Brewery Mission
