The award-winning film No Ordinary Man, which has received critical acclaim throughout its long and exciting festival run, will be available in Canada on all VOD and digital platforms, including digital TIFF Bell Lightbox (digital.tiff.net) starting April 2, 2021. Audiences watching on digital TIFF Bell Lightbox can also view a special Q&A with co-directors Aisling Chin-Yee and Chase Joynt moderated by TIFF’s Artistic Director and Co-Head, Cameron Bailey.

This groundbreaking documentary explores the life and legacy of American jazz musician and trans icon, Billy Tipton. In No Ordinary Man, Tipton’s story is re-imagined and performed by trans artists as they collectively paint a portrait of an unlikely hero. Together, the filmmakers join Tipton’s son, Billy Jr., to reckon with a complicated and contested legacy.
