What Does It Take To Get Laid During A Pandemic? |
World Premiere: Tuesday, March 16th, 9pm ET
PUSS on SXSW Website & Passholder Registration
Multi-hyphenate Leah Shore (Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film” 2013) returns to SXSX with a new live-action short PUSS, their fifth film programmed at the festival. Loosely based on the filmmaker’s own experience, PUSS is a surreal, scandalous, hilarious, and extremely relatable story of Gabriela, who is spending the pandemic locked down alone, bored, and thirsty. Gabriela’s search for close human contact only leads to frustration – until her pent-up desire bubbles over and explodes in a delirious fever dream.
Logline: Samantha really wants to get laid, but is having a hard time for some reason.

About the writer/director LEAH SHORE: Leah Shore developed a passion for fine art, music, and a connection with people at a very young age. Their ability to use a wide array of mediums, incorporate style-centric content, and mine human stories in a cinematic setting, while remaining accessible to a diverse audience, has made them a director to watch out for. They showran a docuseries for Billboard Magazine, interviewing Top 100 artists, producing over 50 episodes. Their recent animated music videos for Peaches (PUSSY MASK) and Lyn Lapid (PRODUCER MAN) have gone viral this year with over 5 million views (and counting!). Their award-winning live-action short films have shown at film festivals, museums and galleries worldwide – from Sundance, SXSW, and Tribeca, to Criterion, Vimeo, VICE, The Atlantic, and Nowness. In 2013, they were featured alongside Eliza Hittman and Katja Blichfeld & Ben Sinclair as “25 New Faces” in Filmmaker Magazine. Leah is currently directing an animation pilot for a major TV network. In their free time, they enjoy obsessively watching horror movies and mastering the Theremin. |
