Sisters: Dream and Variations by Catherine Legault
West Canadian Premiere at Reel 2 Real Festival
In virtual cinema on Cinéma Moderne’s website
EyeSteelFilm and Concerto Films are happy to announce the selection of Sisters: Dream and variations, a feature documentary written and directed by Catherine Legault, at the Reel 2 Real Film Festival for Youth (R2R). The film will have its West Canadian Premiere during the 22nd edition of the festival (geo-blocked to British Columbia).
Sisters: Dream and Variations will also be available everywhere in Quebec from February 17 in virtual cinema via Cinema Moderne’s platform. The film, which is an inspiring observation of the artistic approach of two sisters with Icelandic roots, was presented for the first time at the Montreal International Documentary Festival (RIDM) in 2019. It has since been selected in numerous festivals around the world, like the Reykjavik International Film Festival and the IndieFest Film Awards, where it won in five categories.
Tyr and Jasa grew up in an artistic household where art was a way of life. Quirky and insightful sisters, Tyr is a musician and singer while Jasa is an interdisciplinary artist. Inspired by their great-grandmother’s recordings of Icelandic folk songs, they have developed artistic practices that draw on their colourful imaginations and Icelandic roots. Their exploration leads them to journey to Iceland for the first time and collaborate on a project that brings together their artistic disciplines and cultural heritage.
