SOFI TUKKER today shares their continent-crossing collaboration with Amadou & Mariam “Mon Cheri.” Sung in Portugese, Bambara and French, and produced virtually from Florida, Paris and Mali, the brand new single delivers an ode to love that transcends language. Through endearing grooves, emphatic guitars and a euphoric eruption of sound, “Mon Cheri” sees the two GRAMMY-nominated duos unite in a universal call to the dance floor.
The track appears on Red Hot + Free – Red Hot’s just-announced double album out July 2. The track continues the non-profit’s 30-year mission of fighting HIV/AIDS and supporting humanitarian charities through music, pop culture and global anthems. Proceeds from “Mon Cheri” and the rest of Red Hot + Free will benefit The Ally Coalition, Trevor Project and SAGE, three groups dedicated to LGBTQ equality, suicide prevention in LGBTQ youth, and the elderly LGBTQ community affected by HIV/AIDS and more.
“This song is a dream come true,” says SOFI TUKKER. “About a year ago, when Red Hot approached us about doing a collaboration, they asked us who our dream collaborators would be. We said Amadou & Mariam. Soph grew up listening to Amadou & Mariam all the time and in college, studied West African dance and music. We couldn’t believe it when they came back to us saying they’d be interested. We worked with our long-time collaborator, Brazilian poet Chacal, to create a Portuguese part that matched the style of their vocal melodies. The whole process felt seamless. This is one of our favorite songs we’ve ever made and couldn’t be more grateful to Amadou & Mariam for sharing it with us! Ahhhh!”
Amadou & Mariam add, “‘Mon Cheri’ came at the right time, it’s a song to sing and dance to with a positive message of love. We are very happy to have collaborated with Sofi Tukker and we hope people enjoy it as much as we enjoyed recording it.”
Helmed by influential producer and endless multi-hyphenate Bill Coleman, Red Hot + Free is a liberating mixtape of dance music meant to feed souls and unleash minds from an unprecedented state of lockdown. In addition to “Mon Cheri,” the compilation features an exclusive cover of Juliet Roberts’ beloved ‘90’s house music hit, “Caught In The Middle” by Billy Porter, timely reworks of perennial classics like Gloria Gaynor‘s “I Will Survive” and Ultra Naté‘s “Free (Live Your Life),” fresh and extended versions of songs from Allie X, Casey Spooner, CRICKETS (JD Samson, Roddy Bottum, Michael O’Neill) and Sam Sparro, plus Bright Light Bright Light x The Illustrious Blacks, Louis The Child x Foster The People, Tituss Burgess x Imani Coppola, Vagabon x Pamcy and many others.
Entertainment Weekly raves, “the 18-track HIV/AIDS benefit album is here to save your summer.” Read their new interview with Coleman, where he discusses the parallels between the HIV/AIDS and COVID-19 crises, merging the past and present, and curating Red Hot + Free to honor Red Hot’s roots in the LGBTQ+ community, Black queer movements and the inclusive club scenes that define modern music history: https://bit.ly/3wrq1vX

Seductive, commanding, and instantly memorable; “It Don’t Matter” brings three singular artists together and showcases their shared love of dance music’s unifying power. The song is an accompaniment to Spotify’s flagship dance playlist Mint.
