SAMYan England’s second feature film, will be screened in cinemas across Quebec beginning on Wednesday, July 28th! SAM is directed by Yan England (1:54 and Henry, Oscar nominated), who also co-wrote the screenplay with André Gulluni (Portrait-robot, Origami), and produced by Denise Robert (Menteur, La chute de l’empire américain, 1:54) and Diane England (1:54HenryDans une galaxie près de chez vous 1 et 2).

Yan England takes a look behind the scenes at sport with SAM in which he paints a powerful portrait of a young swimmer, played by Antoine Olivier Pilon, in a sensitive tale of truth where courage, resilience and determination intertwine.

The director’s first feature film supported by the same producers, 1:54, garnered popular and critical success, as well as numerous awards around the world, including the Audience Award at the 2017 Iris Gala, the jury prize at the Hamburg Filmfest Festival in Germany, the best screenplay award at the Aubagne International Film Festival, the audience award at the Rome Francophone Film Festival, the audience award at The Focus on French Cinema New York, a special mention at the Rome Independent Film Festival, the Junior Jury Prize at the Namur International Francophone Film Festival, the Valois Magelis Award and the Best Actor Award for Antoine Olivier, in addition to being presented to the UN!

“SAM” is a sports psychological thriller. It tells the story of Sam (Antoine Olivier Pilon), a 22-year-old top athlete, who finds himself at the heart of a dramatic event with unsuspected sprawling repercussions.
