It is with great joy and honor that the Restaurant h3 learned that it was the recipient of a “Best Award of Excellence” awarded by the renowned magazine Wine Spectator. Just in time for its grand opening! The establishment has just made a hat trick and therefore has a Grand Award for the restaurant Le Coureur des bois in Beloeil since 2018 and an Award of Excellence for La Cabane du Coureur, located in St-Marc-sur-Richelieu since 2019. Cogir Restaurant is the only group to get the 3 different mentions awarded by the Wine Spectator, one per establishment. The Restaurant h3 is the group’s newest project and counts on chef-partner Jean-Sébastien Giguère, head sommelier Hugo Duchesne (Best Sommelier in Quebec 2020) as well as administrative director Marc-Antoine Dionne. Le h3 opens its dining room on Thursday, July 1st, at 340, rue de la Gauchetière West 2nd floor, within the Humaniti complex, in Montreal.
Wine Spectator is the international magazine specializing in wine, a real reference that every year publishes a list of restaurants that stand out. The three categories of distinction are the Grand Award of Excellence, the Best Award of Excellence, and the Award of Excellence. For the highest award, namely the Grand Award of Excellence, there are only a hundred establishments in the world to have obtained this distinction, highlighting both the selection, the service and the wine program offered by the restaurant. The Best Award of Excellence, meanwhile, rewards the quality of the selections and the wine program.
The wine cellar of Restaurant h3 is in itself a unique destination in Montreal, a jewel of design gathering about 4000 bottles. Thus, according to Hugo Duchesne, head sommelier and main person in charge of the wines found at the restaurant: “The h3 wine program wades into each of the lines of the globe’s map, anchored in its territory that it puts forward, a window open to the whole world and winegrowers who reinterpret each year their vision of a great wine and finally, a small privileged space to praise the classic references, as timeless as they are current.”
For his part, chef-partner Jean-Sébastien Giguère is delighted with this award on the eve of the opening of the h3 restaurant. He says: “We open the restaurant already celebrating the excellence of its rewarded wine cellar, it remains to discover the complementarity between our regional cuisines and the wines offered. The whole team is very much looking forward to receiving the curious, epicureans and gastronomes, in short the whole city! Fun will be guaranteed, and I am sure that the restaurant will be a new must.”
Much more than simply a reward for the Restaurant h3, it is Cogir Restaurants that is put in the spotlight, a proof of the consistency between the establishments of the group. “The efforts, the energy but above all the skills and experience of our teams are rewarded today. At the Cabane as at the Coureur des bois and now at h3, we are very proud to receive the Best Award of Excellence. And in addition to this title, our great joy is to collaborate all together, in a pleasant environment and to share our passion with loyal customers as well as visitors!” says Marc-Antoine Dionne, the administrative director of the group’s restaurants.
The h3 Restaurant is open from Thursday, July 1st. From Wednesday to Saturday from 5pm to 10pm. The superb terrace h3, located on the 9th floor of the Hotel Humaniti, is open from Wednesday to Sunday from 3pm to 10pm.
