Screen Media Ventures, a Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment company, has acquired international rights for the new thriller, DIG, starring Thomas Jane and Harlow Jane. Clay Epstein’s Film Mode Entertainment will launch international sales for the film at Cannes. The film is made in partnership with Film Mode, BondIt Media Capital, and producer Daniel Cummings and is in post-production. First-look footage of the film is scheduled to be shown during Cannes.
Emile Hirsch (INTO THE WILD, ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD) and Liana Liberato (IF I STAY), join Thomas Jane (THE EXPANSE, THE VANISHED) and his daughter, Harlow Jane (I LOVE US, TEXAS RISING) in DIG. The duo play father and daughter in the movie. DIG is directed by K. Asher Levin. The script was penned by brothers Banipal Ablakhad and Benhur Ablakhad.
Contracted for home demolition, a widowed father (Thomas Jane) and his daughter suffering from major hearing loss (Harlow Jane) arrive at the construction site. They are soon taken hostage by a dangerous couple (Hirsch and Liberato), who will stop at nothing to retrieve what lies beneath the property. The father and daughter must work together to outsmart their captors and survive the grueling night.
“Emile and Liana are the perfect additions to round out a great cast in DIG. The film is a powerful thriller with a fresh take on the genre that global audiences are craving. We’re thrilled to be working with Daniel and Asher again, and the teams at Screen Media and BondIt on another exciting film,” said Epstein.
“It’s been a great partnership working with Bondit, Film Mode and Screen Media to bring Thomas, Liana, Harlow and Emile to the project. The way the everyone embraced the story and the film allowed Asher to focus on getting stellar performances out of both cast and crew,” said Cummings.
“We are excited to have acquired this outstanding thriller and continue our partnership with Clay, Film Mode and BondIt. The footage looks great and will definitely generate a lot of interest at Cannes,” said David Fannon, President of Screen Media.
Hirsch has a dedicated following stemming from his roles in films like INTO THE WILD, TAKING WOODSTOCK, LORDS OF DOGTOWN and SPEEDRACER to more recent projects like THE COMEBACK TRAIL with Robert De Niro and Morgan Freeman, AMERICAN NIGHT, alongside Jonathan Rhys Myers and THE LEGITIMATE WISE GUY with Harvey Keitel and Ruby Rose.
Previous collaborations between Screen Media and Film Mode include the William Shatner and Christopher Lloyd comedy SENIOR MOMENT, the Barry Pepper, Colm Feore and Laura Vandervoort action-thriller TRIGGER POINT, and the Bruce Willis sci-fi thriller ANTI-LIFE/BREACH.
BondIt and Film Mode Entertainment have an ongoing partnership and first-look relationship as previously announced and have already successfully collaborated on features like the upcoming SLAYERS, starring Malin Akerman, Abigail Breslin and Thomas Jane, the award-winning, newly released STAGE MOTHER starring Academy Award nominee Jacki Weaver, Lucy Liu and Adrian Grenier, CRYPTO starring Kurt Russell, Luke Hemsworth, and Alexis Bledel, and the recently released horror film DREAMKATCHER starring Radha Mitchell and Lynn Shaye.
DIG is produced by Daniel Cummings, along with WLAD’s Rob Goodrich and Jason Armstrong, and Buffalo 8 New Mexico’s Robert Dean. Executive Producers include Clay Epstein, BondIt Media Capital’s Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and Grady Craig, and Thomas Jane and Courtney Lauren Penn through Renegade Entertainment. Jarnell Stokes and Josh Monkrash are also executive producing.
“So much went into making this film happen. The producers and director performed under pressure, on-schedule, and executed according to plan,” noted Grady Craig. “We’re excited to share our second film with this team.”
