The film THE RIGHTEOUS, the first feature film by Canadian filmmaker and actor Mark O’Brien, will have its world premiere at the Imperial Cinema on Sunday, August 15, at 9:30 p.m., in the presence of the film’s crew. Directed by Mark O’Brien (Arrival, Marriage Story, City on a Hill), this psychological horror film stars Mark O’Brien himself alongside Henry Czerny (Mission: Impossible, Ready Or Not)and Mimi Kuzyk (Lost and Delirious, Astronaut).

Shot in Newfoundland and Labrador, THE RIGHTEOUS is the first feature film directed by actor Mark O’Brien, known for his role in Ready or Not (Fantasia 2019). In this occult horror film a former priest (Henry Czerny) and his wife (Mimi Kuzyk), overwhelmed by grief following the death of their child, meet a young stranger (Mark O’Brien) who will disrupt their daily lives.

In addition, the public will be able to discover many films in premiere throughout the week at the Festival, indoors or online. These include the world premiere of the South African thriller INDEMNITY directed by Travis Taute on, as well as the high-VOLTAGE short film program presented as part of the Fantastiques weekends du cinéma québécois, as well as the world premiere of Vincent Grashaw’s WHAT JOSIAH SAW, presented online starting on Friday, August 13.
