Urban Science Brass Band is well known on the Montreal scene for its improvised shows, either on stage or outdoors. The collective of artists – composed of both musicians and dancers – cleverly mixes New Orleans brass band culture with a repertoire of hip-hop classics. Their unique style blends jazz and urban culture and spreads an infectious energy that builds intergenerational bridges.
The #CoLab series highlights collaborations with various high-caliber Montreal artists – the dance collective Swing Riot, rap queb mascots Alaclair Ensemble and funk/jazz veterans The Brooks. Each night, the artists will take turns performing, but with a unique #CoLab twist: a mashup where both artists will be on stage at the same time, reinventing and experimenting together in what is sure to be an explosive collective performance!
A portion of the shows’ proceeds will be donated to charities chosen by each guest artist. Swing Riot will support the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, Alaclair Ensemble will support Pour 3 Points and The Brooks will support the Fondation CHU Sainte-Justine.
