The CINEMANIA Film Festival has announced its collaboration with MAISON 4:3 to present the North American premiere of Valérie Lemercier’s highly anticipated feature film ALINE. The film was presented Monday, October 25 in Paris at the Grand Rex, it is on November 23 at the Théâtre Maisonneuve of Place des arts that the Quebec public will finally be able to discover this film greatly inspired by the life of Celine Dion, as part of a great Gala evening organized by CINEMANIA, and in the presence of the director and the entire artistic team. Tickets will be on sale on the Festival and Place des Arts’ website.
Quebec City, at the end of the 60s, Sylvette and Anglomard welcome their 14th child: Aline. In the family, music is queen and when Aline grows up she is discovered to possess a gift, she has a golden voice. When he hears this voice, music producer Guy-Claude has only one idea in mind… make Aline the greatest singer in the world. Supported by her family and guided by Guy-Claude’s experience and budding love, they will together write the pages of extraordinary destiny, a love story that takes us on a wave of emotions.
To carry out this ambitious project, Valérie Lemercier (Les Visiteurs, Le Petit Nicolas) surrounded herself with Quebec actors including Sylvain Marcel (From De père en Flic 2) as Aline’s agent and husband, as well as Danielle Fichaud (La passion d’Augustine) who plays Aline’s mother. The actress-director Valérie Lemercier has made a spectacular transformation allowing her to slip into the shoes of the Quebec star she plays from 5 to 52 years. She pays her an unconditional and sincere tribute. To push the realism further, the team of this important production (with a budget of more than 30 million dollars) called on Stéphane Rolland, a favorite designer of Celine Dion, for the costumes.
This biographical epic, which follows the young Aline, from her dreams of glory when she was a little girl to the biggest stages in the world, was shot in the greatest secrecy between Montreal, Paris and Las Vegas. The film is co-produced by Édouard Weil and Laurent Zeitoun for Rectangle Productions (France), as well as André Rouleau and Valérie d’Auteuil for Caramel Films (Canada).
Distributed by Maison 4:3, ALINE will be released across the province on November 26, 2021.
The 27th edition of CINEMANIA will take place from 2 to 14 November in theaters in Montreal and from November 2 to 21 online accessible anywhere in Canada.
