It is 2065 and humans are on the cusp of extinction. This is because Earth has been overrun by alien spirits. Scientist Aki Ross (voiced by Ming-Na Wen), who has been inspired by her mentor Dr. Sid (voiced by Donald Sutherland) as well as a weird dream, will attempt to collect eight spirits in the hopes that they together will create a force strong enough to defeat the alien spirits. The idea is that the purity their combination would create would be enough to protect Earth.

Originally released in 2001, this Hironobu Sakaguchi and Motonori Sakakibara helmed film was another film developed from a video game. The Final Fantasy franchise of video games was very popular. The story here is based on a typical morality concept.

Even judging it based on today’s standards the CGI found here is quite good. Sometimes you forget that you are not watching real-life actors, but computer-generated images. Might even creep some of those watching out. Is there something as too life-like when it comes to CGI?

An underestimated fantasy film. It did not do well at the box office so this is your chance to discover it in sparkling 4K.
