Created by Darren Star (Sex in the City, Younger) and starring Lily Collins. That combo meant that attention was pulled to this Netflix series. In a big way.

The comedy is about a young American girl who travels to Paris for the first time. Emily Cooper is from Chicago and is a marketing executive. She has landed her dream job which is located in Paris, hence the move. Excited is an understatement; Emily is over the moon. While there things do not always go as smoothly as she had hoped. Still, she manages to handle whatever comes at her – friends, work and love. All this while having to adjust to the rhythm of the City of Lights.

Despite the fact that this series did super well on Netflix (60 million viewers) and earned plenty of nominations like an Emmy® nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy, there was still some blowback. Especially aimed at Lily Collins. There are plenty of stereotypes here, one piled on top of another. French people being catty. Americans being self-absorbed.

This certainly is a series for women. Can’t imagine too many men watched Emily in Paris unless forced by their girlfriends. It is a fish out of water type story with plenty of great scenery and fashion. The scenery is the best part of the series. That is unless you are a teen, then you might also appreciate the storyline.

Here, in one of the rare Netflix series which is released on DVD, you get all 10 episodes of Season 1 (Season 2 is going to happen soon).
