will make its first stop at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 14

Xn Québec announces the international launch of Effet Québec, its export expertise centre dedicated to companies producing digital content and experiences. L’Effet Québec will travel to Austin next March to take part in the trade mission organized by Investissement Québec International with the support of the Québec Government Office in Houston, and in collaboration with Cabinet Créatif de Montréal, HUB Montréal, Le Camp, and Xn Québec. The Pole will be present at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, one of the most important events for the creative industries in the world, to support local companies and promote business meetings and co-productions.

Launched in October 2021 as part of HUB Montréal, l’Effet Québec – Pôle d’expertise en exportation equips companies from here and elsewhere with common tools to facilitate discoveries and contacts between the different actors, sectors of activity and markets. Through its permanent showcase, its resource centre for export and networking, the L’Effet Québec contributes to creating favourable conditions for the development and growth of innovative digital companies in a sustainable way. The platform is aimed at Quebec companies, studios and artists as well as international players and partners working in the digital creativity sector.

In 2022, the L’Effet Québec begins its second phase of development by deploying concrete actions through various initiatives aimed at pooling business intelligence and including support for member companies in their promotional efforts in certain strategic territories. At the same time, L’Effet Québec will continue to develop the digital platform and permanent showcase as well as improve its resource centre for export and networking. The launch of this second phase will be marked by participation in the mission organized by Investissement Québec International to the South by Southwest festival from March 12 to 16 and more particularly by its contribution to Québec Day on March 14.

Subsequently, the L’Effet Quebec will participate in the MAPS (Middle Atlantic Planetarium Society) conference in Orono, USA, from May 18 to 21, 2022, the second edition of the NUMIX LAB in Montreal, which will take place from May 24 to 27, 2022, and the fifth edition of PiXii, the international festival of digital cultures in La Rochelle, France, from June 20 to 23, 2022. Other collaborations will be announced during the year.

Recall that the first phase of development of the project consisted in the launch of a digital platform whose objectives are:

  • Maximize the visibility of Quebec companies and studios through a search engine that includes the territories, sectors of activity and products, services and technologies put forward by the companies;
  • Equip Quebec companies by giving them access to a directory of contacts to guide them in their export projects;
  • Develop business opportunities and collaborations with international companies so that they can discover Québec’s expertise;
  • Support cultural, economic and commercial attachés so that they can most effectively foster a business relationship between the local company ready to export and an international company ready to engage in production, co-production or collaboration using Quebec expertise.

To date, the site already lists more than fifty companies active in ten markets, ranging from South America to Oceania, through Western Europe and Mexico, operating in 16 different sectors of activity and employing no less than 20 distinct technologies. The site also hosts a technological and creative watch section of the field with studies, discoveries and trends in the sector, calls for projects, trade, and cultural missions, as well as events and professional markets.

L’Effet Québec was developed by Xn Québec, in partnership with the Ministère de la Culture et des CommunicationsSODEC, the City of MontréalInvestissement Québec International and the Quebecor Fund.
