Maison 4:3 has announced the theatrical release of Happening by Audrey Diwan, adapted from Annie Ernaux’s autobiographical novel. The film recounts the journey of a young woman’s physical and emotional battle to access illegal abortion in a desperate race against the clock. A powerful and gripping drama set in a society that condemned female desire and sexual liberty, starring Anamaria Vartolomei, Kacey Mottet Klein, Luàna Bajrami, and Sandrine Bonnaire. It will open in theatres in Quebec on February 18, 2022.
After winning the Golden Lion in Venice, Happening earned four César nominations: Best Female Newcomer (Anamaria Vartolomei), Best Adapted Screenplay (Audrey Diwan, Marcia Romano), Best Director (Audrey Diwan), and Best Film.
