A film by Alice Gu

Los Angeles luthier (manufacturer of string instruments), Reuben Cox, channels his instinct and artistic intuition in building custom guitars sought after by some of rock’s most acclaimed and respected artists. Reuben’s guitars have been described with reference to “Excalibur” as if they are personalized musical weapons designed to unlock creativity. Music that currently resonates around the world has been written by incredible musicians with these instruments in hand. Alice Gu’s intimate documentary REALLY GOOD REJECTS sits down with musical legends like Jackson Browne, Carrie Brownstein, Aaron Dessner of The National, Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Phoebe Bridgers, Andrew Bird, Jeff Tweedy of Wilco, and Perfume Genius. Artists who all have one thing in common – Reuben Cox’s creations. As these stars share their wisdom on songwriting, how guitars manifest personality, and the joys of creative innovation, Gu documents a warm and wonderful exploration of the role of music in the human experience.
