The International Art Film Festival
will close its 40th edition with the film
The Art of Un-War by Maria Niro
The International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA) is pleased to announce that the film The Art of Un-War by Maria Niro will close its 40th anniversary and edition, Sunday, March 27 online. The documentary adds to the rich programming of this anniversary edition available online and in theaters. Presented in Canadian premiere, Maria Niro’s documentary film portrays Polish artist Krzysztof Wodiczko, who uses art, design and technology to empower marginalized communities. This rare glimpse into the artist’s life and public projections highlight his ongoing research on monuments, war and trauma. The evolution of Wodiczko’s political art is illustrated throughout the film, as he is followed from his first intervention in his native Warsaw in 1968, to his most recent work to transform the Arc de Triomphe, a Parisian monument of war, into its antithesis: a temporary site for the abolition of war and for peace activism. |
