MAROON 5’S ADAM LEVINE’S OWN, CHRISTINA GRIMMIE, FROM THE VOICE, RELEASES POSTHUMOUS SONG WITH MILITARY HERO AND DIAMOND SELLING DANCEHALL ARTIST SHAGGY, AND RYAN BROWN, TO BENEFIT ANTI-GUN VIOLENCE FOUNDATION

Christina Grimmie was a young aspiring YouTube singer with legions of followers, delighted to hear her every syllable. One follower, Selena Gomez’ Mother, contacted the Teenage YouTuber to invite her on tour with Selena.

This led to Grimmie’s appearance on The Voice, where Adam Levine, her mentor, lead her to 3rd place on the iconic series.

Tragically, akin to John Lennon and Pantara’s Dimebag Darrell; Grimmie was shot by a random fan at 22 years of age.

“God, I loved her so much. I am talking to you guys specifically. I’m talking to everybody. I miss her. It is unfair she is not here… Christina, we love you.” Levine of Maroon 5 stated in a tribute to Grimmie.

The Christina Grimmie Foundation was created by Father Bud, Mother Tina and Brother Marcus Grimmie in 2017.

Thus far, they’ve raised significant funds for families who have lost loved ones due to gun violence. The foundation received donations from blue-collar workers and celebrities alike.

Christina’s music lives on posthumously, whilst her father, mindful to keep her soul alive, despite his unbearable despair (Bud’s wife, Tina, passed away from breast cancer in 2018).

Enter in to the equation Former US Marine Corps and Diamond-Certified Dancehall Reggae Legend Shaggy, as well as youngster Ryan Brown, inspired by Grimmie to begin singing, and their duet: “Rule The World” (released March 11th, the day before Christina’s would-be 28th birthday).

‘Rule The World’ is an anthem for inspirational women: “They’re not going to see us coming. We’re going to Rule the World! Rule the World! Rule the World!”.

“Every time her music is brought up is bittersweet in a way. It’s really sad that she’s not here anymore but the fact that we can do something as a family to help other people has really kept me and my dad going.

Christina envisaged ‘Rule The World’ as a duet, and Ryan having attended the same high school as her seemed like perfect karma to help Christina’s legacy grow through Ryan’s success in this post-humous duet.

‘Rule The World’ by Christina Grimmie & Shaggy ft. Ryan Brown — produced by Grimmie’s Friend, Multi-Platinum Musician Stephen Rezza, and Canada’s Marc Mysterio at his state-of-the-art studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada  — is available now on Spotify as well as your favorite streaming platform!
