¡Viva Maestro! the uplifting and timely new documentary from acclaimed documentarian Ted Braun, follows Dudamel around the world as he responds to unexpected and daunting obstacles with powerful music and an innovative, triumphant concert that celebrates the power of art to renew and unite.

When conductor Gustavo Dudamel’s international tours are disrupted by deadly protests in his native Venezuela, one of the world’s greatest and most beloved musicians faces the challenge of his life – a challenge that will strengthen his commitment to the mentor who changed his life, disrupts the relationships with the friends and musicians he has established since his teenage years, and test his faith in the transformative power of art.

Writer-director Ted Braun’s critically acclaimed feature debut Darfur Now was named best documentary of 2007 by the National Board of Review and the Broadcast Critics Association, and went on to win the NAACP Image Award for best documentary of the year. The film was produced by Oscar-winning Crash producer Cathy Schulman, Don Cheadle and three-time Oscar-winning documentarian Mark Jonathan Harris. For his work writing and directing the film, the International Documentary Association awarded Braun the Emerging Filmmaker of the Year 2007 award. His next film Betting On Zero (2016) explores the stakes of the battle between the CEO of the hedge fund, Bill Ackman, and Herbalife. It was produced by Glen Zipper, producer of the Oscar-winning feature documentary Undefeated. Ted Braun teaches at USC’s School of Cinematic Arts in Los Angeles where he holds the Joseph Campbell Chair in Film Ethics. Its students have won or been nominated for some of the most prestigious awards in film and television: Academy Awards, Palme d’Or, Emmys, Sundance Festival Awards, and European Media Prizes.
