The very first edition of the LASSO festival presented by Bell in collaboration with Coors Original is fast approaching and 12 new artists have been announced! On August 12 and 13, Parc Jean-Drapeau will host a gigantic party where country music will be in the spotlight. This modern country music festival is sure to delight long-time and new country fans alike, thanks to some of the most inspiring artists in the genre, who will be brought together to deliver exciting performances.
In addition to prestigious headliners Luke Bryan and Dierks Bentley, as well as previously announced popular artists such as Nashville band Old Dominion (on stage for the first time in Montreal), critics’ darling Ashley McBryde, not to mention Tenille Townes and Kelsea Ballerini, the inaugural edition of the festival will feature a host of talented artists.
On Friday, James Barker Band will be in attendance. The Ontario-born band, winner of the JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year and Song of the Year at the Canadian Country Music Awards for its success Chills, recently released a new single in collaboration with headliner Dierks Bentley. Canadian Steven Lee Olsen will demonstrate why he is one of the most beloved country artists in the country, having written songs that have been performed by big names in country such as Keith Urban, Garth Brooks, Rascal Flatts, Billy Currington, The Judds, Dallas Smith and many others. American singer and reality TV star Alexandra Kay (who will soon be touring with none other than Tim McGraw) will certainly add fans to her community on TikTok (which is growing exponentially every day, accumulating more than 2 million subscribers so far), while Montreal country-punk band Yesterday’s Ring will gather especially for the festival. Rising star Jojo Mason (who has garnered several CCMA nominations), Quebec group Mountain Daisies, Ontario artist Sacha (whom CMT has included in its list of “Next Female Country Stars” to watch in 2021) and Alberta songwriter Sykamore will complete Friday’s lineup.
On the second day, fans will be able to sing in chorus the catchy songs of the Canadian country duo The Reklaws (their hit Long Live the Night was the most listened to Canadian song on streaming platforms) and will also be able to see three rising stars of new country, Griffen Palmer (winner of NBC’s Songland contest), Madison Kozak (who shared the stage with Reba McIntyre, Tanya Tucker, Willie Nelson and KeithUrban), not to mention Phil G Smith who will defend Quebec country with all his passion.
LASSO is also the perfect opportunity to discover a large number of local talents. “We are thrilled to offer our Quebec and Canadian artists the chance to perform on the same stages as some of the biggest names in today’s country music,” said Nick Farkas, Senior Vice President, Programming, Concerts and Events for evenko.
