SUMMER ACTIVITIES UNVEILED FOR MONTREALâS ULTIMATE GOURMET DESTINATION
The SociĂ©tĂ© de dĂ©veloppement commercial (SDC) de la Petite Italie has unveiled the highlights of its summer program -totally free, as the neighbourhood prepares for a festive atmosphere! A prime destination for food lovers, from pizza to haute cuisine, featuring popular grocery stores and a famous market, Little Italy will be moving all summer long to the beat of a range of cultural and family events. Hereâs a look at whatâs in store for the summer, including the return of the neighbourhoodâs signature beerâSapore Del Sole!
Since May 10, the public piano at Place du Marché-du-Nord has been bringing life to the neighbourhood. A few surprise artists are expected to perform this summer. As of Thursday, June 2, streets will be pedestrianized around the Jean-Talon Market, and street furniture will be installed in the coming weeks. It will be an opportunity for a quiet, peaceful stroll through the neighbourhood, while enjoying food and drinks from its 100 different businesses.
PICCOLA FESTIVAL & LOCAL BEER
PICCOLA FESTIVAL / SAINT-LAURENT BLVD / JUNE 17â19
The Piccola Festival starts June 17 on Saint-Laurent Boulevard! The street will be closed for the occasion and feature entertainment, merchant booths to promote local businesses, special installations and musical performances. Shows by THAĂS and INUS ASO are scheduled for June 17, FILLY & THE FLOPS and LA BRONZE for June 18, and KID KOUNA and MARCO CALLIARI for June 19. The program also features many family activities, such as face painting for children, giant soap bubbles and circus activities for everyone, with the clownish performances Mario Has an Incredible Talent and Plouf!
REFRESHING SAPORE DEL SOLE RETURNS JUNE 15
Summer also marks the return of Little Italyâs tribute beer, the refreshing Sapore Del Sole, brewed by Microbrasserie Saint-Houblon. Sapore Del Sole will be available in stores starting June 15 and confirm the neighbourhoodâs status as the Ultimate Gourmet Destination!

OUTDOOR CINEMA AT PARC DANTE
PARC DANTE OUTDOOR CINEMA / JULY 6âAUGUST 31
In a joint initiative by the SDC Petite Italie and the Italian Contemporary Film Festival, a variety of Italian films will be screened at Parc Dante every Wednesday starting at sunset, from July 6 to August 31. Comedies, historical movies, documentaries, and other genres will be accessible to Italian, French and English speakers alike. These include L’afide e la formica by Mario Vitale, I fratelli De Filippo by Sergio Rubini, Vecchie canaglie by Chiara Sani, Lasciarsi un giorno a Roma by Edoardo Leo, along with other surprise films to be announced soon!Â
CINĂMA SOUS LES ĂTOILES / AT PARC DANTE / JULY 11 & AUGUST 8
The 13th edition of Cinéma sous les étoiles will be held this summer in parks across Montreal, featuring two soon-to-be-announced movies playing in Parc Dante at 9 p.m. on Monday, July 11 and at 8:30 p.m. on Monday, August 8. Cinéma sous les étoiles de Funambules Médias is an outdoor event dedicated to promoting social and political documentary films. After the screenings, filmmakers and experts will discuss the films.

BLOCK PARTY / ĂGLISE NOTRE-DAME-DE-LA-DĂFENSE / JUNE 11â12 & AUGUST 13â14
Around Montrealâs iconic Italian church, the Ăglise Notre-Dame-de-la-DĂ©fense, a celebration for the Feast of Saint Anthony of Padua will take place June 11 and 12, with a mass in his honour, followed by a procession through the neighbourhoodâs streets and an evening in the park with BBQ and music, including a performance by Marco Calliari. On August 13 and 14, festival-goers are once again invited to a block party around the Ăglise Notre-Dame-de-la-DĂ©fense.
AUTOFEST / DANTE STREET / JULY 10
On July 10, Italian car enthusiasts are expected to attend the Festival de lâAuto Italienne de MontrĂ©al on Dante Street.
29TH EDITION OF ITALFEST / AUGUST 5â20
ItalfestMTLâformerly known as Italian Weekâis a festival that celebrates Italian culture and summer in Montreal. Attendees are invited to take part in a range of events and activities proudly celebrating music, art gastronomy, fashion and Italian talent from here and from the bel paese. The festivalâs 29th edition will highlight the Abruzzo region and bring Little Italy to life on the weekend of August 12â14, with a show by country punk singer Manny Blu (August 12), the Moda Sotto le Stelle fashion show (August 13) and an outdoor performance of Rossiniâs opera The Barber of Seville (August 14).
