It is so exciting that we are getting back to some semblance of normal. Live music and festivals are starting up again. One that you should not miss out on is the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival. Ten days of live music. Wall-to-wall cool music and the energy we all missed over the last 2 years or so – that of a crowd of people enjoying live music.
The festival started way back in 1980 and has brought in many a locally and internationally respected musical act over the course of its 40 years. Previously artists like Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, Buena Vista Social Club, and Aretha Franklin have wowed crowds at the festival. While the festival has always brought in internationally acclaimed artists, it also focuses on Canadian talent.
This edition’s lineup includes Blue Rodeo, Emmylou Harris, Pink Martini, Blind Boys of Alabama, Busty and the Bass, Bill Frisell, Chet Doxas Trio, Corinne Bailey Rae, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Holly Cole, Lucinda Williams, Meshell Ndegeocello, Michie Mee, and many, many more! You can see that there will be a wide variety of styles and sounds going on over the 10 days and nights.
The shows will take place in a variety of indoor and outdoor venues. Each day will feature hours and hours of music. During the afternoon you can check out the Free Block Party, in the evening the 7:30 pm Series and for night owls, OLG After Dark Series. Shows will take place rain or shine!
