CINÉPISTOLAIRE : 10 filmmakers, 5 filmed correspondences
The complete series is now available on the Cinéma Public platform
Cinéma Public has announced that its first original creation, the Cinépistolaire series, is now available in full. Five filmed correspondences, between 10 Canadian filmmakers, offered free of charge to cinephiles across Canada on the Cinéma Public online platform.
During lockdown, Cinéma Public wanted to remedy this long period of isolation by initiating a way to meet and exchange. Filmmakers were invited to correspond, in a personal, creative and intimate way, around issues close to their hearts — be they artistic or social, political or environmental.
Caroline Monnet and Carol Nguyen, Lina Rodríguez and Jorge Lozano, Trevor Anderson and Eva Cvijanović, Shannon Walsh and Julien Elie, as well as Nour Ouayda and Rhayne Vermette answered the call. Originally from Quebec or Ontario, Manitoba or Alberta, Vietnam or Colombia, established in Montreal, Vancouver, Toronto or Beirut, these artists from varied backgrounds have created a unique cinematic space, where each person’s voice and gaze are both self-revelatory and open to the other.
An abridged version of the series will be presented on the big screen during the Cinépistolaire à l’affiche event on Thursday, July 14 at 9 p.m. The free screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmakers Lina Rodriguez and Trevor Anderson. This evening is part of Bleu soir, the summer series of outdoor screenings of Cinéma Public at Livart.
