The Festival MEG is back at Parc Jean-Drapeau and the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) from September 2 to 5. A festival that hosts the next generation of electro and hip-hop artists, whose mission is to bring together an audience of curious night owls, the MEG Festival celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year and kicks off the start of the school year with outdoor and indoor programming, offering a combination of performances by local, Canadian and international artists.

Music celebrated at the start of the school year

This year, the MEG Festival is working hard by offering, from Friday to Sunday, at the SAT, two consecutive independent concerts. The new formula explores styles and allows electro to coexist with hip-hop and pop for five concerts. Four events will also be held at Parc Jean-Drapeau on the Piknic Électronik site.

The kick-off of this 23rd edition will take place on September 2 at Parc Jean-Drapeau, where DJs Dillon Francis [US] and Durante [US] will follow one another at the turntables (opening of the site at 4 pm). At the SAT, the first concert of the evening will give way to the joyful pop of Miel de montagne [FR], partnered with the music of Montrealer Etienne Dufresne [CA]. At 11 pm, the second event of the evening at the SAT: the house duo COEO [DE] will be in charge of moving the crowd.

On Saturday, September 3, at the SAT, French underground rap legend Hugo TSR will perform alongside Quebec rapper Mike Shabb and DJ Lou Fre$h. Then, a change of atmosphere for the second concert, which will invite night owls to let themselves be carried away by the melodies of Joachim Pastor [FR] and Stereoclip [BE]. Meanwhile, the legendary Fatboy Slim [UK] will ignite Parc Jean-Drapeau on the Videotron stage with Skream [UK],” while the Boisé stage will host Berlin’s Cinthie [DE].

Sunday, September 4 will be busy at the SAT with the electronic universe of Oklou [FR] and Ouri [QC] for the first concert of the evening. During the day, Montreal’s techno queen Misstress Barbara [CA] will be at Parc Jean-Drapeau for a long set. On the stage side of the Boisé, it is Sofia Kourtesis [DE] who will make festival-goers dance.

Finally, on Monday, September 5, the duo Tinlicker [NL] and the talented Sara Landry [DE] will close the 23rd edition of the MEG Festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau.

Hip-hop culture explored during a professional meeting

As every year, and following the evolution of the industry, the MEG Festival is also a place of exchange for professionals. Thus, all are invited to meet during a get together on Friday, September 2 at 10:00 am at the SAT to share their expertise around the theme “Hip-hop culture in all its states, between France and Quebec”. The following will be present:
