The Festival du nouveau cinéma de Montréal (FNC) and Sphère Films have announced that Charlotte Le Bon’s FALCON LAKE will kick off the 51st edition of the FNC on October 5 at the Imperial Cinema, in the presence of the film team, before opening in Canada on October 14. Presented as a world premiere at the 54th Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, FALCON LAKE stars Sara Montpetit, Karine Gonthier-Hyndman, Monia Chokri and young French actor Joseph Engel.
Bastien and Chloé spend their family holidays by a lake inhabited by a ghost legend. Despite the three years that separate them, a singular connection is established between them. Ready to overcome his worst fears which is to exist in Chloe’s eyes, summer becomes a troubling and pivotal moment for the young boy.
FALCON LAKE is freely adapted from the graphic novel Une sœur by Bastien Vivès. Charlotte Le Bon’s first feature film, FALCON LAKE received a very enthusiastic reception during its world premiere at the Directors’ Fortnight of the Cannes Film Festival last May. Visual artist, Charlotte Le Bon explored the strange through painting, drawing and lithography before turning to directing. A fan of genre cinema, she wrote and directed her first short film Judith Hotel in 2018, also presented in Cannes.

International sales are handled by Memento International. FALCON LAKE is distributed in Canada by Sphère Films and will open on October 14.
The 51st edition of the Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC) will take place in Montreal from October 5 to 16, 2022. The full program will be unveiled on September 20.
