MUTEK launches the Immersive Collection with the production of three works in Extended Reality (XR)
World premiere of the three works at the festival in Montreal
August 23-28, 2022 — Esplanade Tranquille — free.
For 23 years, MUTEK has sought to support artists in their exploration of the new frontiers of technology – presenting works that innovate and create a new language of sounds and images.
In 2022, our commitment takes new forms with the production of Extended Reality (XR) projects: Five artists take up the challenge of translating a performance previously given at the festival into an XR work of art.
With:
France Jobin CA/QC& Markus Heckmann DE/CA— Entanglement XR
Chloe Alexandra Thompson CA/US& Matthew Edwards US— House of Moiré
Line Katcho CA/QC— Immortelle
Neither documentaries, classical fiction, concerts, nor games, these three works define a new category of XR audiovisual experiences. They combine abstract and figurative interpretations, spatialized sound design, radiant visuals and the playful and persevering spirit of artists who venture into new territories.
Published by MUTEK on several online content stores, starting with Steam, the Immersive Collection will also join the catalogue of Astrea, the largest international distributor of immersive productions, and will be presented in selected festivals and spaces around the world.
