The first edition of The great return of the Quartier Latin, the cultural and student back-to-school event on Saint-Denis Street from September 8 to 10. In a friendly atmosphere and on a pedestrian Saint-Denis street with a new green layout, students, Montrealers and visitors are invited to enjoy a rich cultural program combining music, dance, improv theatre, and street entertainment, accompanied by three major festive events on the evening of September 8, 9 and 10.
This new event in the Latin Quarter will highlight the richness of this district, whether living or studying. The major French-speaking cultural and university institutions, as well as the fifty bars and restaurants, will take part in the celebration with the students who participated and put all their talent into the animation. Three major festive events will be on the program: a launch party at the Jardins Gamelin, The Quartier Latin Night on the nights of September 9 to 10 and a major unifying event to close this first edition! Full details of the program will be revealed at the end of August.
A new green development resolutely Latin
From now until early fall, visitors can enjoy a new development on pedestrian Saint-Denis Street between De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Sherbrooke Street: Laab Collective’s Maximus Agora in collaboration with Signature design communication. Composed of several islands of street furniture in the form of modular platforms, vegetated and unified by a graphic intervention on the ground, the layout invites you to take a break from your wandering and offers a welcoming place to socialize. It is complemented by a window covering of vacant shops, presenting inspiring quotes about Quartier Latin. The Agora Maximus is inspired by two emblematic figures of Latin culture: the Agora, a place of culture and civic encounters, and the Circus Maximus, a place of entertainment and heritage. This signature project will return in an enhanced form in 2023 and 2024.
