13-14-15 September 2022, 7:30pm
Salle de concert, Conservatoire de musique de Montréal
NO HAY BANDA presents a series of three concerts dedicated to the works of the Italian composer Pierluigi Billone (b. 1960), one of the most unique voices of the European avant-garde. The Pierluigi Billone Festival will take place from September 13 to 15 at the Salle de concert du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal.
His radical methods have led him to develop idiosyncratic playing techniques in the exploration of unchartered soundscapes. Nonetheless, his sources of inspiration are rooted in an archaic and sacred universe, as if for him, the most advanced point of modernity rejoined the very essence of musical phenomena. Billone’s music will be performed by renowned local and international artists who are among his closest collaborators, presenting a selection of his works written between 1995 and 2019.

NO HAY BANDA is a Montreal-based non-profit organization committed to the production, performance, and promotion of musical events rooted in exploratory and avant-garde practices. Through an annual concert series in Montreal, along with a number of touring productions, NO HAY BANDA provides a space for artists working on the fringes of established genres to realize projects that would not take place otherwise. NO HAY BANDA aims to broaden and challenge the musical experience of the audience, showcasing the work of the intergenerational avant-garde that takes its roots in pop/rock, DIY culture and post-war experimentation.
