Mark your calendars! On September 17th, UBC Professor Hyung-Gu Lynn will be the guest speaker at the third Pachinko Book Club meeting via Zoom. His talk will be centred around the Korean and Japanese diaspora. This talk is organized in collaboration with the Asian Art Publication Lab (AAPL) as part of its community project on Asian diaspora and migration. To register for the event, follow the link below. Dr. Lynn is the AECL/KEPCO Chair in Korean Research and Editor of Pacific Affairs, the leading academic journal in interdisciplinary studies of contemporary Asia and the Pacific. His research focuses on Korea and Japan starting from the late 19th century to the present. Research areas include: (1) popular culture; (2) migration; (3) international relations; (4) political history; (5) business history; and (6) visual culture. He received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and his MA and BA from the University of British Columbia. (From UBC website) |
