I was amazed to receive this hefty box in the mail last week. Lo and behold it was Lisa S. Johnson’s Immortal Axes: Guitars That Rock; a new epic book chronicling Lisa’s photographic and historical perspective on guitars that rocked our lives and the stories they tell.
I spent a rainy Sunday afternoon on my couch consuming the photos of some of the most beautiful and treasured guitars in the world. Lisa tells us of her journey to capture these iconized instruments and the stories behind the photos are insightful and fun.

Soak in some of the coolest guitar photos, as Lisa discusses her subject’s trials and tribulations. Bloodied, bruised and boozed but beautiful; these guitars all have personalities that emote off the page. Imagine all the songs that were played with these wonderful instruments.
Lisa’s long-term devoted love affair with guitars is evident in this incredible 388-page beautifully illustrated hardcover. Her pursuit of the most awesome guitars in the world includes customized guitars from Gibson, Gretsch, Rickenbacker, Martin, Fender, and Alembic guitars.
What an indulgence on my rainy Sunday afternoon on the couch. I loved this awe-inspiring hardback and I will revisit its pages often….thanks Lisa.
