GOD’S CREATURES by Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer will be released on September 30th. The film, which had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival’s Directors’ Fortnight, stars Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves), Paul Mescal (Normal People, Aftersun) and Aisling Franciosi (The Unforgivable).
In a windswept fishing village, a mother is torn between protecting her beloved son and respecting his beliefs. By lying to support him, the harmony in their family and community is shattered.
The first film directed by the duo of Saela Davis and Anna Rose Holmer, who collaborated on the latter’s 2015 directorial debut The Fits, which screened at Venice and Sundance, GOD’S CREATURES excels at immersing viewers in the rural world of a small town with a tense atmosphere. Emily Watson and Paul Mescal give outstanding performances as a mother and son in search of salvation.
