This was the last one. The last of the Star Trek films based on the original series. With the original cast. The last time Shatner, Nimoy, Nichols, Kelley, Doohan, Takei, and Koenig ride together again. Enjoy it as it was never to happen again.
Thankfully the last ride is a good one. Leaves you with a good taste in your mouth about the original Star Trek gang.
The Klingons are desperate. They only have 50 years. 50 years of survival on their planet as in peril as their moon has exploded and they have 50 years until the ozone layer is completely gone leading to their death. All of them. This leaves them with one option. That is to make peace with the Federation after 70 long years of conflict. It is a bitter pill to swallow for the Klingons.
Due to their experience with the Klingons, Captain James T. Kirk (played by William Shatner) and the crew from the Enterprise are called in for the peace negotiations. But tragedy strikes when the Klingon High Chancellor is assassinated. Going from bad to worse, Kirk and McCoy (played by DeForest Kelley) are arrested on suspicion of being the murderers. Not exactly how they pictured retirement. They are brought to the planet Rura Penthe, a snowy planet, and thrown in prison there. In order for peace to happen and the Klingons to survive, Kirk and McCoy are going to have to escape and prove their innocence.
Humour, adventure, mystery, and more. All the elements that made sci-fi fans fall in love with Star Trek are all here.
