Dreamland: A Storming Area 51 Story

What do you get when you combine an alien enthusiast and a comedian? A film obviously. In all seriousness, stand up comedian Brian Moreno has been curious about aliens his entire life. This and his comfort in front of a camera leads to him hiring a film crew to record his trip to and venturing into the famous Area 51.

In the United States, a significant number of people subscribe to the alien conspiracy. They believe that the government has been hiding information or proof of alien life from the population. After seeing a “Storming Area 51” post go viral, Moreno decides he will see what is going on, giving us an insider’s perspective. The result is an example of cinema verite that is at times hilarious while others very insightful/eye-opening.

Moreno and the film crew he has hired set off in an RV from Los Angeles and are travelling to Rachel, Nevada, the site of Area 51. The entire trip is made up of mishaps and crazy things.

Do not think you have to be an alien expert or enthusiast to find this film interesting. I am neither and yet my attention was held throughout. At times your mouth will be agape while at others you will just be laughing.

The way the film has been put together is rather interesting. First, there is the wild idea that millions online respond to saying they are coming. Storming Area 51 is a crazy idea as it is a heavily guarded site.

One of the most interesting aspects of the film is that the film crew is rather mixed about whether they should be there at all. The discussions between the crew and Moreno are highly entertaining.
