Best friends and superheroes. The combo of Krypto the Super-Dog (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) and Superman (voiced by John Krasinski) is an unbeatable tight one. They have the same superpowers and take on the criminal element in Metropolis as a team. The super duo is put in jeopardy when Superman and the rest of the Justice League are kidnapped. It will be up to Krypto to save the day.

Krypto the Super-Dog knows he cannot do this alone, so sets off to assemble a new team. The pickings are slim, however, so he has to select from a group of animals from a local shelter. A hound named Ace (voiced by Kevin Hart), a potbellied pig named PB (voiced by Vanessa Bayer), a squirrel named Chip (voiced by Diego Luna), and a turtle named Merton (voiced by Natasha Lyonne) are the ragtag group. Not exactly a crime fight gang that will have the villains shaking in their boots. Or are they?

A great voice cast who really bring plenty to their animated characters. Plenty of comedic talent to be found. The ones mentioned above are also joined by Marc Maron, Ben Schwartz, Thomas Middleditch, Kate McKinnon, Keanu Reeves, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jameela Jamil, Jemaine Clement, Alfred Molina, Lena Headey, Keith David, Busy Phillips, and Olivia Wilde. Wow!

This animated superhero film is of a higher quality than many live action superhero films. Yes, I am looking at you, Superman! This is a kid-friendly superhero film as you might suspect. That does not mean that older people will not enjoy it. Fun for the whole family.

Following a predictable storyline, you can tell what is going to happen from the word “kidnapping”. But it is not offensively predictable. Plus that is cushioned by a lot of zingers/one-liners, physical comedy and sight gags. Most of the humour hits the mark. And there are a few touching moments that change the pace up nicely.
